Its name is self-explanatory, it’s a card that enable the otherwise magnetized data to be seen on the card and be updated on-the-fly. The special thermal coating reacts to temperature. At a certain temperature, the coating will realign its physical elements on the coating so lights can pass through to be understood as “erased”; at a higher temperature, the alignment changes and designated dots will become “data written”. The align and realign repeat over 500 times with whatever information the software dictates. The “text” shown depends on the coating material, it can be Blue, Black or Red – with Blue being the most popular and Red being the least.
Usually the size of a standard credit card, its thickness and its core material are the differentiating elements on card class, the common denominator is of course the special thermal material.

Reprints 500+ times, the thermal rewritable uses a Thermal Rewritable Printer that uses NO Consumables. That is, no ribbon, no ink, no nothing.
